With Signeasy, signers and approvers can now reassign a document to the right person directly from the signing or approval experience—no need to decline or ask the sender to resend.
Why this feature matters
Sometimes documents are sent to the wrong person—due to routing errors, role changes, or simple mistakes. Previously, the only options were to decline the document or request the sender to restart the process. Both options interrupt the workflow.
Reassignment allows the current recipient to quickly pass the document to the correct person in one step, without restarting the transaction.
How reassignment works
- Open the document from your dashboard or signing/approval view.
Click the More options (⋮) menu.
- Select Reassign to someone else.
- Enter the new recipient’s details and an optional reason.
- Confirm the reassignment.
Once completed:
- The document is reassigned to the new signer or approver in the same position.
- Any partially filled fields are cleared so the new recipient can start fresh.
- The original recipient is added as a CC, allowing them to track progress.
- Notifications are sent to:
- The sender
- The new signer/approver
- The original recipient (confirmation of reassignment)
- The reassignment is recorded in the audit trail, including:
- Who reassigned the document
- The new recipient
- Reason (if provided)
- Timestamp and device/IP details
Important notes
- You cannot reassign a document to someone who is already part of the workflow (signer, approver, CC, or owner).
- Reassignment is not allowed if the recipient has a standing delegation set up.
- Each signing or approval slot can only be reassigned once—further reassignments are not supported.
- This feature is available only for Request Signature workflows (including bulk send).
It is not available for:- Self Sign
- In-Person Signing
- If the document owner is also part of the signing or approval flow, they cannot reassign their own slot. They must edit the document instead.
