Auto-detect form fields is now live, making it significantly faster to prepare PDFs for e-signatures.
When a sender uploads a PDF, they can enable auto-detect form fields, which scans the document and automatically places commonly used fields such as:
Signature fields
Date fields
Checkboxes
Lines, dashes, and boxes
This works for both:
PDFs with existing embedded form fields
Flat PDFs with visual cues
The feature reduces manual effort by handling the bulk of field placement automatically.
Manually adding fields to long documents can be time-consuming and error-prone—especially for multi-page agreements.
Auto-detect form fields helps you:
Instantly reach ~80% completion
Avoid repetitive drag-and-drop actions
Focus on reviewing and fine-tuning instead of starting from scratch
Available to all e-sign users
Supported on both:
Old interface
ICM interface
Internal users with an @signeasy.com domain have access on the ICM plan
Accessible within the document viewer (docviewer)
Upload your PDF document
Enable auto-detect form fields
The system scans for recognizable patterns
Fields are automatically placed across the document
Review and adjust as needed before sending
PDFs are complex file formats, and detection is based on pattern recognition. While the feature is effective, it is not guaranteed to be perfect.
Think of it as a smart assistant that completes most of the work, leaving you to handle final adjustments.
