Dropdown Field for Documents

A new Dropdown Field in the Viewer to make collecting fixed-choice responses cleaner, faster, and more intuitive.
Updated last month

With this update, dropdowns offer a more compact and user-friendly way to manage longer option lists—working seamlessly across desktop, Android (mWeb), and iOS (mWeb). Previously, dropdown-style inputs were handled using radio groups. This will be fully supported for dropdown fields in the document viewer (prepare, send, edit, sign and Template flows), dropdowns open neatly where the signer taps.

Dropdowns help manage longer lists such as department, designation, or plan tier—resulting in cleaner documents, faster completion, and fewer errors.

Limits to Keep in Mind

  • Maximum 50 options per dropdown

  • Maximum 30 characters per option

  • At least one non-empty option is required

  • Supported characters include:

    • Letters, numbers, spaces

    • Common punctuation: - . , / : ; ( ) ! ? @ # $ % & + = _ ~

  • Emojis are not supported

  • Clear error messages are shown during send/save if any rule is violated

Plan Availability

Dropdown fields are available on all plans.

Note

  • Signers will see a default placeholder: “--select--”, that is not customizable yet.
